Cuvée Vincent is Vincent Girardin’s calling card for clean, terroir driven white Burgundy, sourced from well chosen parcels across the Côte d’Or and handled with a light, precise touch. Since shifting toward a more restrained style, Girardin has brought more clarity and energy into wines at this level, and this cuvée shows that nicely.
The 2023 vintage is bright and immediately appealing. Aromatics open with pear, green apple and lemon zest, with a touch of white peach adding softness. There is a subtle savoury note, almond, a hint of spice and a faint flinty edge that gives the wine shape.
On the palate it sits in the light to medium bodied range with a smooth, flowing texture, but there is a clean line of acidity that keeps everything fresh. Citrus and orchard fruit carry through, supported by very restrained oak that adds just a touch of depth. The finish is crisp and mineral, with a lightly savoury edge that lingers.
Girardin’s winemaking is all about balance and purity here, careful pressing and gentle élevage allowing the fruit and site to come through without complication.
This is a great everyday Burgundy that still rewards attention at the table. Think freshly shucked oysters, grilled prawns with lemon and olive oil, or a simple fish dish with herbs. It also works beautifully with dishes like spaghetti vongole, zucchini fritters or crispy potatoes with rosemary and aioli, where the wine’s freshness and texture lift everything.
Drinking beautifully now for its brightness and charm, it will hold over the next three to five years, offering a lively, approachable expression of Burgundy Chardonnay.
