From the cool alpine foothills of Alto Adige comes a Pinot Grigio that shows just how serious this often underestimated variety can be. Alois Lageder is one of northern Italy’s most progressive and historic estates, with family roots dating back to 1823. Based in Magrè, the Lageder family have long championed sustainable and biodynamic viticulture, working organically farmed vineyards across Alto Adige’s diverse microclimates. The region’s dramatic diurnal shifts, mineral rich soils and high altitude sites allow Pinot Grigio to retain freshness, aromatic clarity and textural finesse.

Pale straw with silver green reflections, the aromatics are pure and refined. Pear, white peach and green apple lead, followed by delicate citrus blossom and a subtle almond note. There is a fine mineral lift that reflects the Dolomite influenced soils and cool mountain air.

On the palate it is dry, medium bodied and beautifully balanced. Orchard fruit and citrus glide across a crisp line of natural acidity, supported by a gentle textural roundness that gives depth without heaviness. The finish is clean, precise and lightly saline, making it both refreshing and quietly complex.

Pair with grilled prawns, fresh river trout, light pasta with herbs, sushi or a simple antipasto plate. Best enjoyed in its youth over the next three to five years to capture its vibrant fruit and alpine freshness.
