In the hills of Lantignié, a small village in the northern part of Beaujolais, Jean Paul Dubost produces wines that reflect the charm and vitality of old vine Gamay. Dubost is a traditional grower whose family has farmed these slopes for generations, working with vineyards rooted in the granite rich soils that define the region. Lantignié is increasingly recognised for producing wines with the depth and character of nearby crus while still carrying the easy drinkability that Beaujolais is loved for. Dubost’s approach in the vineyard and cellar focuses on gentle extraction and minimal intervention so the fruit and terroir remain front and centre.
The wine shows a bright ruby colour with lively clarity. Aromas open with red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry layered with delicate floral notes and a hint of spice. As the wine develops in the glass subtle hints of crushed herbs and granite minerality begin to emerge. The palate is fresh and energetic with flavours of red berries and cranberry supported by soft tannins and vibrant acidity.
There is a lovely purity to the fruit and a gentle savoury edge that gives the wine balance and drinkability. The finish is bright and refreshing, making it a wonderful companion for charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled sausages or casual bistro style dishes.
