The 2024 Chardonnay is understated but delivers a beautifully pure, Chablis-like expression of tight honeydew melon and citrus. Fresh acidity drives a linear texture with a long, bright, crystalline finish. A little tight right now, but a couple more years will see this build considerably more interest. Drink to 2032.

92+ points Angus Hughson for Vinous, July 2026

The 2024 estate Chardonnay from Dalrymple pours a bright golden hue and greets with lifted citrus and floral high notes that precede layers of white fleshed stone fruit and toasty bakery aromas, and a subtle saline streak. The palate is lively and finely structured, with layers of fruit complemented by a chalky texture, fine acidity and a long, clean finish.

This is quintessential cool-climate maritime Chardonnay with late summer and early autumn character. A glass would sit nicely with pan-seared mulloway glazed with shiro miso and served with a butter enriched dashi and a serving of bok choy.

About this wine

Dalrymple Chardonnay was handpicked from carefully selected Tasmanian vineyard parcels, then gently whole-bunch pressed and settled overnight. Fermentation took place primarily in French oak puncheons, with a small portion in ceramic egg to build texture and complexity. The wine matured for ten months, with lees stirring over the first four months and malolactic fermentation completed in spring, resulting in a Chardonnay of freshness, texture and layered complexity.

The 2024 season was warm and dry, with nature blessing with a generous harvest of excellent quality. The fruit was handpicked and whole bunch pressed before settling overnight. Fermentation took place in a combination of French oak puncheons and ceramic eggs. The wine then rested for a total of ten months, during which it was lees stirred over the first four months and allowed to complete malolactic fermentation in the spring after harvest.
