2024 Domaine de Rimauresq 1er Cru Classé Rosé, Cotes de Provence

Tucked into the Maures foothills near the Mediterranean, Domaine de Rimauresq is one of the very few estates in Côtes de Provence classified as Cru Classé, a status granted in 1955 to recognise historic quality and pedigree. The estate dates back centuries and takes its name from the “Real Mauresque,” a royal Provençal river that still runs through the property. Today the vineyard is owned by the Wessanen family and farmed with a strong environmental focus, benefiting from altitude, cooling maritime breezes and a unique north facing orientation that slows ripening and preserves freshness. The soils of schist and clay limestone contribute both mineral tension and aromatic precision.

Pale salmon pink with brilliant clarity, the bouquet is refined and layered rather than overtly fruity. Wild strawberry, white peach and pink grapefruit rise from the glass, followed by subtle floral notes, dried herbs and a gentle saline lift. There is a stony, almost crystalline edge that reflects the estate’s cooler microclimate and distinctive terroir.

On the palate it is dry, elegant and beautifully structured. Red berry and citrus flavours glide across vibrant natural acidity, supported by a fine textural core that gives depth without weight. Hints of spice and Provençal herbs linger through a long, mineral driven finish. This is rosé with both class and composure, balancing delicacy with quiet power.

Pair with grilled prawns, bouillabaisse, Niçoise salad, charcuterie or roast chicken with herbs. While captivating in its youth for freshness and perfume, it has the structure to cellar comfortably for five to eight years, gaining savoury nuance and textural complexity over time.
