Triennes is a 46-hectare Mediterranean estate acquired In 1989 by Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac, Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée Conti, and their Parisian friend, Michel Macaux. Located in the Var due east of Aix-en-Provence, the hillside property has been thoroughly upgraded. The vineyard is now farmed organically and was renamed “Triennes,” a reference to Triennia, the festival for Bacchus. This Rosé, a blend of Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, and Merlot, is everything you would expect from Provence and more. Light salmon in color, with an aroma of fresh strawberries and watermelon, it is lively and refreshing on the plate with lush berry flavors. Not a lightweight, but simply a delicious Rosé with enough richness to enjoy with lunch or by the pool.

Domaine de Triennes was founded in the early 1990s by two of Burgundy's most celebrated names, Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée Conti, who recognised the remarkable potential of Provence's cooler inland hills. Their vision was simple: produce wines of purity and elegance that reflected the unique character of the Var rather than chasing fashion.

The vineyards sit in the rolling countryside east of Aix en Provence where warm Mediterranean days are tempered by cool evening breezes descending from the surrounding hills. The combination of limestone rich soils and altitude allows the fruit to retain freshness and aromatic detail, giving the wines energy as well as charm.

The colour is a delicate pale salmon pink that practically glows in the glass. Aromas of wild strawberries, white peach and pink grapefruit mingle with hints of watermelon, rose petals and fresh herbs. The palate is crisp and refreshing, offering juicy red berries and citrus fruit wrapped around a fine mineral thread. Bright acidity and a gentle savoury edge carry the wine through a long, dry finish that invites another glass.

Perfect with grilled South Australian prawns, tuna carpaccio, Mediterranean vegetable tarts, Vietnamese rice paper rolls or simply enjoyed on a warm afternoon with a bowl of marinated olives and a sea breeze nearby. Drink now and over the next two to three years while its freshness and vibrancy are at their peak.
