The 2024 Volnay Clos la Cave has an attractive bouquet that is more floral compared to the Vieilles Vignes cuvées, hints of peony and dried rose petal infusing the red berry fruit, refined in style. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly abrasive tannins at the moment. Drink: 2028 - 2037

Based in the beautiful village of Volnay, Domaine Rossignol-Février is a small family estate with deep roots in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. The domaine specialises in expressive Pinot Noir, with an emphasis on the delicate perfume, fine tannins and elegance that distinguish Volnay from its more powerful neighbours. Clos la Cave is a lovely example of this graceful style.
The Clos la Cave vineyard lies within Volnay, where limestone and clay soils provide an ideal setting for Pinot Noir. The 2024 vintage produced wines with bright acidity and aromatic freshness, making this a particularly appealing expression of the village's refined character.
Brilliant ruby red with delicate garnet reflections. Red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry mingle with violet, rose petals and a hint of cinnamon. The palate is silky and beautifully balanced, with juicy red berries, refreshing acidity and fine, supple tannins. Gentle notes of forest floor, dried herbs and earthy spice add complexity to the long, fragrant finish.
Try it with duck and cherry sauce, roasted mushroom and thyme tart, or pan fried ocean trout with puy lentils. Its elegant structure also works beautifully with beetroot ravioli and sage butter.
Cellaring: Drink 2027 to 2035. Lovely for its youthful fragrance, with the potential to develop further savoury complexity.
