Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle Grosses Gewächs Riesling offers lime, peach and mineral purity with Nahe finesse and legendary pedigree.
A masterpiece of power and elegance that has incredible lightness, yet with fantastic power in the finish. I love the delicate peach and peach blossom aromas. This carries the high acidity of the vintage beautifully, but your patience will be rewarded. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold.
98 points James Suckling
The 2024 Riesling Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Grosses Gewächs is from vines planted in 1949 on shale with some calcareous inclusions. Just 1,500 kg per hectare were harvested, about 8% less than usual. This is already luminous, even as barrel sample, with sumptuousness, poise and grace. A ripe lemon juice note flows and stays the course in a straight line, taking over and filling out the mouth and mind. Its exquisite ripeness is depicted in the most svelte shape with crystalline clarity. (Bone-dry)(AK)

The Dönnhoff family have defined the modern reputation of the Nahe, with Cornelius Dönnhoff continuing a remarkable legacy built on precision, patience and an unwavering respect for terroir. Revered around the world, the estate produces some of Germany's most sought after Rieslings, with each Grosses Gewächs expressing the unique character of its vineyard.
Hermannshöhle is widely regarded as the Nahe's greatest vineyard and one of Germany's most prestigious grand cru sites. Its steep slopes of weathered slate and volcanic soils produce Rieslings of extraordinary concentration, finesse and longevity. Vintage after vintage, Hermannshöhle delivers wines of breathtaking purity, remarkable mineral depth and effortless balance, making it a benchmark for world class dry Riesling.
The colour is a brilliant pale gold with youthful green highlights. Aromas of lime zest, white peach and grapefruit are layered with white flowers, crushed slate and delicate smoky spice. The palate is both powerful and graceful, combining vibrant citrus and stone fruits with crystalline acidity and an intensely mineral core. A long, seamless finish reveals saline freshness, precision and extraordinary persistence.
Magnificent with lobster, turbot, scallops, white asparagus or simply enjoyed on its own to appreciate one of Germany's finest Rieslings. While already captivating, this Grosses Gewächs will continue to evolve beautifully for decades.
