Donnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett from the Nahe offers lime, apple and slate minerality with vibrant acidity and finesse.
A very cool and crisp wine with juicy white tree fruit and very racy acidity on the sleek, light-bodied palate. Very precise and filigreed finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold.

The 2024 Riesling Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett was grown on shale on this cool site. Its stony verve adds a touch of lemon zest on the nose. The palate is lightness itself, gently sweet but like a summer breeze carrying notions of clover. This is breezy and stony but tender on the finish. The 2024 is almost weightless. (Medium)(AK)

The Dönnhoff family have been crafting some of Germany's finest Rieslings for more than 250 years, with Helmut Dönnhoff and now son Cornelius establishing the estate as one of the great names of the Nahe. Their wines are celebrated for purity, precision and an extraordinary ability to express the nuances of each vineyard site.
Oberhäuser Leistenberg is one of the Nahe's historic vineyards, a steep south facing slope overlooking the village of Oberhausen where weathered slate soils and cool air currents create Rieslings of finesse rather than power. The Kabinett style captures the vineyard's delicacy beautifully, balancing gentle sweetness with thrilling acidity and mineral drive.
The colour is a brilliant pale straw with youthful green highlights. Aromas of lime blossom, green apple and white peach rise from the glass alongside hints of jasmine and wet slate. The palate dances with flavours of citrus, orchard fruits and a touch of ripe nectarine, carried by vibrant acidity and a subtle sweetness that never feels heavy. The finish is long, refreshing and beautifully poised, with the classic interplay of fruit and minerality that defines great Kabinett.
A magnificent match for fresh prawns with chilli and lime, spicy Thai dishes, sushi, roast pork with crackling or a simple apple tart. Delicious in its youth but capable of evolving gracefully for fifteen years or more.
