Just south of Vosne Romanée, Aux Chaignots is one of the more elegant Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits Saint Georges, known for Pinot Noir with lovely perfume and finely balanced structure. Domaine Faiveley, established in 1825, is now led by seventh generation siblings Erwan and Eve Faiveley, with Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking. The vineyard's limestone and clay soils encourage aromatic finesse and freshness.
Bright ruby red with delicate crimson highlights. Wild cherry, raspberry and redcurrant mingle with violet, rose petals and gentle woodland spice. The challenging 2024 vintage has produced a finely detailed expression, with lively acidity, polished tannins and a lingering mineral, savoury finish.
Delicious with duck and shiitake dumplings, roast quail with cherries, or crispy skinned ocean trout with beetroot and lentils. A wild mushroom and thyme tart would be equally appealing.
Cellaring: 2028 to 2040. A graceful Premier Cru that should develop appealing earthy complexity with age.
