93 points Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
Charmes Chambertin is one of Gevrey Chambertin's most seductive Grand Crus, celebrated for Pinot Noir that combines generous fruit with remarkable elegance. Situated below the legendary Chambertin vineyard, its limestone and clay soils encourage richness, aromatic complexity and fine structure. Domaine Faiveley, founded in 1825, remains family owned, with Erwan and Eve Faiveley leading the estate and Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking.
Brilliant ruby red with crimson highlights. Ripe cherry, wild raspberry and red plum mingle with violet, rose petals and delicate sweet spice. The challenging 2024 vintage favours freshness and aromatic finesse, with beautifully textured fruit, polished tannins and a lingering savoury mineral finish. Graceful yet concentrated, with impressive potential to develop complexity.
Delicious with roasted quail and cherries, duck breast with five spice, or a golden porcini and chestnut tart. A beautifully refined Burgundy for a special occasion.
Cellaring: 2029 to 2043+. An elegant Grand Cru that will reward careful ageing with greater savoury depth and silky texture.
