The 2024 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru is a step up over the Charmes-Chambertin with greater depth and complexity, though it is still relatively open-knit compared to other vintages. The palate is mediumbodied with fine tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit, very smooth with a plush and quite sensual finish. Lovely.
93 points Neal Martin, Vinous January 2026
Few vineyards command greater reverence than Chambertin Clos de Bèze, a legendary Grand Cru first cultivated by monks in the seventh century. Its limestone rich soils produce Pinot Noir of extraordinary depth, fragrance and ageing potential. Founded in 1825, Domaine Faiveley remains family owned, with Erwan and Eve Faiveley leading the estate and Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking.
Deep ruby red with luminous crimson reflections. Black cherry, wild raspberry and ripe plum mingle with violet, rose petals, liquorice and subtle woodland spice. The challenging 2024 vintage favours freshness and aromatic definition, with beautifully concentrated fruit, finely grained tannins and a long, mineral finish. Powerful yet wonderfully graceful, with the structure to develop remarkable complexity over time.
A magnificent companion for roasted duck with sour cherries, venison with juniper and beetroot, or porcini and chestnut pithivier. An exceptional Burgundy deserving of a memorable occasion.
Cellaring: 2030 to 2050+. A distinguished Grand Cru with outstanding potential for extended ageing.
