Technical director Jérôme Flous describes the Faiveley Corton as 'a Charlemagne rouge', but if this is true, it is a ripe one, with seductive aromas of raspberry, blackberry and currant with a slightly salty mineral edge. The tannic line is firm and straight, but there is enough flesh to help this age for decades, as previous vintages have shown. This is among the better Cortons I have had this year.

94 points Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

A crisper colour, a little more precision to the nose. Refined darker raspberry, this wine is in quite a different shape, much more structured, a darker fruit, a few more tannins, all building towards a complete whole. Drink from 2032-2037. Tasted Nov 2025

93 points Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Few Burgundy vineyards carry a family signature quite like Clos des Cortons Faiveley. This historic Grand Cru monopole on the slopes of the Hill of Corton has been owned by Domaine Faiveley since 1874. Founded in 1825, the estate is now led by seventh generation siblings Erwan and Eve Faiveley, with Jérôme Flous overseeing winemaking. Its limestone and clay soils produce Pinot Noir with exceptional depth, structure and ageing potential.

Deep ruby red with vibrant crimson highlights. Black cherry, wild raspberry and ripe plum mingle with violet, liquorice and subtle woodland spice. The cooler 2024 vintage emphasises freshness and aromatic definition, with concentrated fruit, finely grained tannins and a firm mineral backbone. Powerful yet beautifully controlled, finishing with lingering notes of dark berries, crushed stone and savoury spice.

A magnificent companion for roast duck with blackberries, venison with juniper and beetroot, or porcini and chestnut pithivier. A serious Burgundy deserving of a memorable dinner.

Cellaring: 2030 to 2050+. An exceptional Grand Cru with the structure and concentration to reward extended cellaring.
