Famille Hugel Classic Riesling offers lime, citrus and mineral freshness with elegant Alsace purity, balance and finesse.
For nearly four centuries, the Hugel family has been one of the defining names of Alsace. Established in 1639 in the charming village of Riquewihr, the estate has passed through twelve generations and remains a benchmark for wines of purity, precision and longevity. Few producers have done more to champion Alsace Riesling around the world, with the Classic range offering an authentic introduction to the region's most famous grape variety.
The vineyards are spread across some of Alsace's finest sites, where limestone, clay and sandstone soils contribute complexity and freshness. The region's dry climate and long growing season allow Riesling to ripen slowly, developing intense aromatics while retaining vibrant natural acidity. The 2024 vintage produced fruit of excellent quality, resulting in a wine that beautifully balances fruit, minerality and elegance.
Pale straw with green highlights, the bouquet is bright and aromatic, revealing lime zest, lemon blossom and green apple alongside notes of white flowers and wet stone. The palate is crisp and beautifully defined, offering flavours of citrus, pear and grapefruit supported by lively acidity and a subtle mineral backbone. There is excellent purity and precision throughout, leading to a long, dry finish that lingers with citrus and mineral notes.
A classic match for oysters, grilled prawns, smoked trout, sushi, pork schnitzel or a goat's cheese tart. It is equally enjoyable as an aperitif, delivering the freshness and versatility that have made Alsace Riesling one of the world's great white wine styles.
