Off 1990s vines; the winemaking was the same as last year: indigenous ferment, 20% whole bunches, 10% new oak. Jane Eyre has had an extraordinary career so far, establishing herself in Burgundy, winning a swathe of accolades and drawing top reviews from the best in the business. The style of those wines is mirrored here, with elegance and transparency of expression key. Strawberry, red cherry, white pepper, kirsch, a waft of florals. It’s refined, stylish and all class.

The Jane Eyre Shoreham Park Pinot Noir from the Mornington Peninsula is a small-batch, site-focused wine that reflects both Jane Eyre’s elegant, minimal-intervention style and the cool-climate beauty of this coastal region. Jane Eyre, originally from Melbourne, has become one of Australia’s most exciting micro-négociants, producing highly sought-after Pinot Noir both in Burgundy and in select Australian regions. The Shoreham Park vineyard, located near Western Port Bay on volcanic and sandy loam soils, produces fruit with vibrant aromatics, fine tannins and a mineral edge that speaks to its maritime setting.

In the glass, the Shoreham Park Pinot Noir is a bright ruby with garnet highlights. The nose is aromatic and layered, offering red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry alongside rose petals, spice, forest floor and a hint of savoury earth. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, showing a core of juicy red fruits balanced by chalky tannins and fresh acidity. Subtle oak provides gentle spice and structure, while the finish is long, elegant and precise.

Food pairings highlight its delicacy and savoury complexity. Roast duck with cherry sauce, mushroom risotto, chargrilled salmon or herb-roast chicken are all natural companions. It also pairs beautifully with charcuterie and soft cheeses such as Brie or Délice de Bourgogne. While delicious in its youth, it has 8 to 10 years of cellaring potential, developing truffle, dried herb and forest floor notes with age.
