Moreau Naudet has become something of a cult name in Chablis, built on the vision of the late Stéphane Moreau and now carried forward with care by his wife Virginie. The estate works some excellent parcels around the village, with a strong focus on old vines and thoughtful vineyard work, letting the Kimmeridgian limestone soils speak clearly. It is Chablis with both precision and a quiet depth that keeps drawing people back.
The wine opens with a pure line of citrus, lemon and lime, layered with green apple and a subtle hint of white peach. There is a distinctive mineral edge running through it, that classic oyster shell and wet stone character that defines the region. Everything feels lifted and detailed rather than broad.
On the palate it is finely tuned, crisp acidity driving the wine forward while a gentle texture adds balance. Flavours stay bright and focused, finishing long with a saline flick and a touch of flint that lingers. It is both refreshing and quietly complex, the kind of Chablis that rewards attention.
This is right at home with seafood. Fresh oysters, sashimi, grilled prawns or even a simple piece of pan fried fish with lemon all make perfect sense. It also works beautifully with goat’s cheese or light salads where the acidity can cut through and refresh.
Enjoy it young for its energy and clarity, or give it three to six years to see more subtle honeyed and savoury notes emerge while the mineral core remains intact.
