A looser, more playful take on Sangiovese from Poggiotondo, this IGT Rosso lets Alberto Antonini step outside the Chianti rules while keeping the same organic, site driven philosophy. Grown on the rolling hills around Cerreto Guidi, it’s all about freshness, purity and easy drinkability.
The 2024 is bright and full of life. Red cherry, raspberry and a touch of cranberry lead, with a lift of violet and a flicker of dried herbs. There’s a subtle savoury note underneath, a hint of spice and a light earthy edge that keeps it grounded.
It moves quickly and cleanly across the palate. Light to medium in weight with a lively line of acidity that gives the wine real energy. Tannins are soft and gently grippy, just enough to shape the fruit before it finishes with a fresh, slightly savoury twist.
Antonini’s approach keeps things simple and precise, minimal intervention, gentle extraction and a focus on letting the fruit shine.
This is made for relaxed, flavour driven food. Think pizza with prosciutto and rocket, pasta with tomato and basil, or grilled sausages with fennel. It also works beautifully with dishes like a chickpea and tomato stew, charred vegetables, or even a simple plate of antipasti, where the wine’s freshness keeps everything lively.
Drink it young, give it a slight chill, and enjoy it for what it is, vibrant, honest and very easy to like.
