Peach, apricot and lime, with juicy sweetness, vivid acidity and a long mineral finish.
The 2024 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Spätlese is deep, pure, intense and savory on the nose, with lots of salts or iodine. Round and refined on the palate, this is a beautifully balanced, mouthwatering and textured Spätlese of great class and style. 9% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2025.

The 2024 Riesling Kiedricher Gräfenberg Spätlese charms with a flicker of passion fruit before lime zest kicks in. Likewise, the palate has a gorgeously tart and sweet tropical overtone. Its aroma and fruit run rings around your brain, full of charm, poise and seduction. The 2024 has immense agility, freshness and energetic liveliness. It comes with 55 g/L of residual sugar and around 10 g/L of acidity. (Medium)

Gräfenberg is the great vineyard at the heart of Robert Weil, rising steeply above Kiedrich and producing many of the estate’s most profound Rieslings. Robert Weil founded the estate in 1875, and today Wilhelm Weil continues the family tradition. The vineyard itself has been recognised for its quality for centuries, and while its rare BA and TBA releases can reach extraordinary levels of concentration, Spätlese is arguably where Gräfenberg becomes particularly irresistible, combining ripe fruit and sweetness with wonderful energy.
The steep south west facing slopes and stony phyllite soils give Riesling both concentration and a distinctive mineral backbone. The challenging 2024 season required rigorous selection in the vineyard, but Riesling’s naturally high acidity proved a tremendous asset. At Spätlese level there is sweetness, certainly, yet the wine feels beautifully alive rather than heavy, with ripe stone fruit and citrus pulled into shape by bright acidity.
Pale luminous gold, opening with white peach, apricot and green mango before lime and mandarin add a brighter edge. Orange blossom, fresh ginger and a touch of acacia honey follow, with crushed stone and a faint smoky note underneath. The palate is silky and juicy, with peach and apricot sweetness immediately met by mouth watering citrus acidity. Lime and mandarin peel provide bite through the middle before a long, beautifully balanced finish of stone fruit, citrus and mineral spice.
Thai prawns with lemongrass and chilli would be sensational, alongside Peking duck, Vietnamese turmeric fish with dill, pork belly with ginger or a spicy green papaya salad. Our pick is the prawns. Sweet shellfish, chilli and aromatic lemongrass against cool, juicy Spätlese Riesling is one of those combinations that makes everyone at the table suddenly very quiet.
Cellaring: Gorgeous now, although 2028 to 2048 should see it become increasingly complex.
