Glows with apricot, peach and mandarin, balanced by vivid acidity and cool mineral spice.
The 2024 Kiedrich Turmberg Riesling Auslese is deep, rich, concentrated and honeyed on the nose that shows candied lemon rind and saline notes. Clear, clean and mouthwatering saline on the palate, this is a rich and savory, highly stimulating Auslese that was selected with enormous ambitions and meticulous care. This is a great Auslese. 1,500 liters made. 9% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2025.

The 2024 Riesling Kiedricher Turmberg Auslese, made from shriveled grapes, sprays with a mix of grapefruit and the merest touch of honey and passion fruit. Immense fruitiness defines the palate, with notes of peach and chervil edged with lime. This is like intense, iced fruit sorbet. It is thrilling, pure and so deeply fruited. How can something so intense be so light? This is crazy and delicious. Its 11 g/L of acidity counters 130 g/L of residual sugar with aplomb. (Sweet)

Turmberg sits immediately beside the celebrated Gräfenberg vineyard above Kiedrich and is another important piece of the Robert Weil story. The estate was founded in 1875 and today Wilhelm Weil continues the family’s remarkable Riesling tradition. Turmberg takes its name from the ruined medieval tower overlooking the vines, and while Gräfenberg may command the greatest attention, this steep hillside can produce wonderfully expressive Riesling with its own distinctive personality.
The vineyard’s steep exposure and stony phyllite soils encourage both ripeness and mineral intensity, while Riesling’s naturally high acidity is essential at Auslese level. In the demanding 2024 season, careful selection was crucial. The resulting wine has beautiful concentration and sweetness, but it is considerably more nimble than the Beerenauslese and TBA, with citrus and mineral freshness keeping the ripe fruit wonderfully animated.
Bright golden yellow, with ripe apricot, yellow peach and mandarin joined by lemon curd and quince. Orange blossom and honeysuckle add perfume, while ginger and a cool stony note appear underneath. The palate is luscious but beautifully poised, with peach and apricot sweetness cut by mouth watering citrus acidity. Mandarin peel and mineral spice tighten the middle before a long, clean finish of stone fruit, citrus and honey.
Peking duck with a sharp plum glaze would be terrific here, alongside spicy Thai prawns, pork belly with ginger and five spice, blue cheese with pear or an apricot and almond tart. Our pick is the duck. Sweet fruit, crisp skin and five spice give Auslese Riesling plenty to play with without turning dinner into dessert.
Cellaring: Beautiful now, but better from 2028 and capable of developing to 2050+.
