The Amisfield vineyards in Central Otago have been BioGro certified organic from the the 2021 vintage onwards.
This Pinot Gris comes from two blocks on the estate — Lochar stony gravel soils on the top terrace and shallow sandy loam on the flats below. Forty percent of the juice was fermented in seasoned French oak barriques, adding weight and complexity while keeping the oak in a supporting role only. The remainder was vinified in stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal aromatic lift.
Pale gold, the nose shows quince, pear drop, white peach and musk with a touch of cardamom and clove spice. The palate is vibrant and textural with fresh stone fruit, gentle sweetness and the clean minerality that runs through the entire Amisfield range. Fresh acidity and a balanced, lingering finish.
This kind of Pinot Gris can be a great one to have at a dinner table that has lots of things on offer. It would feel different but equally delicious whether you serve it a fresh Vietnamese style salad, grilled seafood or chicken.
Drink now through 2028.
