This elegant and graceful rosé is the taste of summer, with high tones of spiced lemon and peony accented by subtle crushed strawberries. The palate has the perfect amount of fruit weight and gentle savouriness, and the finish is refreshingly dry. Drink 2026-2027.

This Rosé style from Brokenwood has become a bit of a hit since its release about 10 years ago. It’s a combination of the Italian varieties Nebbiolo from the north and Sangiovese from further south. It’s light-bodied, pale in colour, and slightly savoury in character, yet the light red fruits on the palate and floral aromas are absolutely engaging. It even gets a little bit of foot stomping during the making, and a small portion is fermented in old oak. The result is a wine that comes together beautifully. Absolutely scrumptious and ready for current drinking. Lovely stuff. Drink 2025-2029.

The 2025 is the 10th Rosato release from Brokenwood. A blend of the Sangiovese (55%) and Nebbiolo (45%) varieties from Victoria. This is stylistically European, with fruit roundness but a dry finish (technically just 0.31%). A savoury wine with plenty of florals and texture on the palate.
Fruit was partially crushed by foot stomping, with the juice and skins left to steep overnight. The grapes were then pressed to tank and the juice dispatched to the Hunter Valley. A small amount was fermented in old oak but the majority in stainless steel tank.
Best consumed young on a warm afternoon in good company.
