Emmalene Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills is an elegant, finely structured wine that captures the cool-climate sophistication and expressive fruit that this region is celebrated for. The Emmalene label focuses on purity and precision, drawing fruit from select high-altitude vineyards where the long, mild growing season allows Pinot Noir to develop complexity while retaining fresh acidity and fine tannin. The result is a wine that beautifully balances fragrance, texture and poise.
The grapes are hand picked from carefully chosen sites across the Hills, where the combination of clay loam and sandstone soils provides natural concentration and aromatic lift. Fermentation takes place in small open fermenters with a portion of whole bunches to add perfume and structure. After gentle pressing, the wine is matured in French oak barriques, mostly seasoned, for around ten months to bring harmony and subtle spice without overpowering the fruit.
In the glass it shows a bright ruby colour with lifted aromas of red cherry, cranberry and wild strawberry, complemented by hints of rose petal, thyme and a touch of forest floor. The palate is vibrant and silky, with flavours of red berries, rhubarb and gentle oak spice supported by fine tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long and elegant, showing the delicacy and balance that mark the best Pinot Noirs from the Adelaide Hills.
Emmalene Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or charcuterie. It also works well with lighter dishes such as beetroot salad or herb-roasted chicken. Best enjoyed within five to eight years of vintage, it will develop subtle savoury notes and further texture with bottle age.
