The name for this vibrant style of Pinot Grigio is a tribute to the family matriarch, Tarquina, who was affectionately known as Queenie. She hailed from the Fruili region of Italy, a well-known home to the variety. Fermentation was in stainless steel. The colour is barely a touch up from water, so pale is it. Just the merest hint of a lemon/lime hue. The nose gives us very gentle pears and citrus. This is a most elegant, fragrant and subtle style of Pinot Grigio, almost fragile. A supple texture with a fine line of acidity, it will make for attractive early drinking. An enjoyable Pinot Grigio for consuming over the next two to three years. Should be an ideal match for a range of Thai dishes, provided they are not overly spicy. Drink 2025 to 2028.

The Saturno family has been at the helm of Longview Vineyard since 2007, building on the estate's reputation as one of the Adelaide Hills' most awarded single vineyard producers. Queenie is named for the family matriarch, Tarquinia Saturno, who arrived in Adelaide from the Friuli region of northern Italy in 1935 — the spiritual home of dry, elegant Pinot Grigio. That heritage is felt in every vintage of this wine.

Grown on a south-western facing slope at the top of the estate, fruit is whole bunch pressed without extended skin contact and cool fermented in stainless steel to preserve the variety's natural freshness and delicacy. The 2025 was one of the driest seasons in decades at Macclesfield, ripening the crop rapidly and delivering outstanding fruit quality.

The result is pale, fragrant and immediately appealing. Gentle pear, nashi and white blossom on the nose, with a touch of citrus and almond. The palate is crisp and dry with supple texture, a fine line of natural acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. Elegant and subtle, made for early enjoyment.

Serve well chilled a light antipasto spread or take it with you to BYO fish shop.
