Set high on the sun drenched plateau north of Aix en Provence, Maison Saint Aix has become one of the defining names of modern Provence rosé. Founded by Dutch entrepreneur Eric Kurver in 2008, the estate sits at one of the highest elevations in the appellation, where warm Mediterranean days are tempered by cooling winds that help preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. Over the past decade, AIX Rosé has earned a devoted global following, becoming a benchmark for the vibrant, dry rosé style that has made Provence famous.
The vineyards are planted on a mix of clay, limestone and gravel soils, ideally suited to Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, the traditional varieties that form the backbone of the blend. The elevated site and long growing season allow the grapes to achieve full flavour development while retaining the crisp acidity that gives the wine its energy and elegance. Gentle pressing and cool fermentation ensure purity and finesse remain at the forefront.
Pale salmon pink in colour, the wine opens with enticing aromas of white peach, wild strawberry and raspberry, layered with hints of pink grapefruit, citrus blossom and fresh Mediterranean herbs. The palate is bright and beautifully balanced, combining juicy red berry fruit with nectarine and citrus flavours. A subtle mineral note adds complexity, while vibrant acidity provides freshness and drive. The finish is clean, dry and refreshingly persistent, making it remarkably easy to enjoy another glass.
Perfect with freshly shucked oysters, grilled king prawns, tuna carpaccio, zucchini and feta fritters or a classic salade niçoise. Equally at home beside the pool, on a long lunch table or paired with a seafood feast, it captures the relaxed sophistication of Provence in every sip. Best enjoyed over the next two to three years while its freshness and lively fruit are at their peak.
