Pale with a flash of green and precise lemon, grapefruit and lime notes with suggestions of lime zest, citrus blossom, riverstone, sea spray, cut fennel and lemongrass. Perhaps just a touch more concentration than last year, but that focus and tension are bang on with a tight, racy line throughout its length, lipsmacking citrus fruits and a dry, crisp finish. From the cool, windswept vineyards of northern Tasmania comes a Riesling that reflects the island’s reputation for precision and purity. Pipers Brook Vineyard was established in 1974 by Dr Andrew Pirie, a pioneer who helped place Tasmania firmly on the fine wine map. Situated in the Pipers River region, the vineyard benefits from long daylight hours, cold nights and steady maritime breezes that slow ripening and preserve vibrant natural acidity. Free draining sandy loam over clay soils contribute to clarity, tension and mineral drive.

Pale straw with brilliant green flashes, the aromatics are lifted and finely etched. Lime zest, lemon blossom and green apple leap from the glass, layered with white florals and a subtle mineral edge. There is a crystalline freshness that immediately signals cool climate origin.

On the palate it is dry, linear and beautifully structured. Fresh lime, grapefruit and crisp apple glide across a spine of racy acidity, delivering energy and length. A faint chalky texture adds grip and focus, while the finish is long and mouthwatering, lingering with citrus peel and stony minerality. It is Riesling defined by clarity and vibrancy rather than weight.

Pair with freshly shucked oysters, sashimi, grilled prawns, Thai salads or goat cheese with lemon and herbs.
