From the cool slopes of the Adelaide Hills, Wicks Estate has built a strong reputation for producing refined and expressive wines that capture the character of the region. The estate was founded by Tim Wicks and Simon Wicks after the family had spent many years growing grapes for some of Australia’s most respected wineries. Their vineyard near Woodside sits at elevation where cool nights, gentle sunlight and well drained soils create ideal conditions for Chardonnay to develop both flavour and freshness. The fruit is handled with a careful approach in the winery to preserve purity while adding subtle complexity through thoughtful maturation.
The wine shows a pale straw colour with bright green highlights. Aromas lift with white peach, nectarine and lemon zest layered with hints of grapefruit, toasted hazelnut and gentle oak spice. As the wine evolves in the glass subtle notes of almond and brioche begin to appear. The palate is vibrant and beautifully balanced with flavours of citrus and stone fruit supported by lively acidity and a fine mineral line. There is a pleasing texture that adds depth without overshadowing the freshness that Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is known for. The finish is long, clean and refreshing.
