Vibrant, silky raspberries and pomegranate from old vines to 1936
The latest release of Vine Vale Grenache opens with heady aromas of raspberries and pomegranate juice framed by flinty and savoury spice notes. The palate is vibrant, with silky red fruits and refreshing acidity among Barossa warmth.
Barossa Grenache loves dishes with aromatic spices, sweet-savory glazes, and roasted or charred elements. Try with charcoal-grilled cumin and smoked paprika pork skewers drizzled with sherry vinegar, or whole roasted beetroot with pomegranate molasses, goat’s curd and smoky sea salt.
More about this wine
The fruit for this wine is from two old vine Grenache blocks in Yalumba’s Tri-Centenary Vineyard in the Barossa subregion of Vine Vale. Planted in 1936 and 1949, the vines stand in deep sandy loam layers underlain with red-brown clay subsoils.
The 2024 season was dry, warm and largely trouble-free. The parcels were fermented together with indigenous yeasts in open top stainless-steel fermenters with a 20% inclusion of whole bunches, then matured for eight months in well-seasoned French oak puncheons.
