One of the most recognisable bottles in the wine world, La Fiole du Pape has been a symbol of Châteauneuf du Pape since its creation in 1952. The distinctive twisted bottle was inspired by a vine shaped by the fierce Mistral winds that sweep through the Southern Rhône. Produced by Maison Brotte, a family owned winery founded in 1931 and now led by the fifth generation of the Brotte family, this wine has introduced countless wine lovers to one of France's most celebrated appellations.

Sourced from vineyards scattered across Châteauneuf du Pape, the blend showcases the region's famous galets roulés, the large rounded stones that absorb heat during the day and release it at night, helping grapes achieve full ripeness. Grenache forms the backbone of the wine, supported by Syrah, Mourvèdre and other traditional varieties. The warm Mediterranean climate and diverse terroirs contribute layers of richness, spice and complexity that define the style.

Deep garnet red in colour, the nose is generous and expressive with aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, blackberry and raspberry compote woven through notes of dried herbs, liquorice, cracked pepper and warm baking spices. Full flavoured yet beautifully balanced, the palate delivers waves of dark fruits, savoury garrigue, earthy complexity and silky tannins. A touch of mocha and spice emerges on the long finish, providing depth without overwhelming the wine's natural elegance.

This is a wonderful match for slow roasted lamb shoulder with rosemary, beef daube, duck confit, chargrilled eggplant with tomato and olive ragù or a rich wild mushroom casserole.
